Broadband That Works, without the Phone
SoGEA
With the planned BT PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) switch off, planned for 31 January 2027, SoGEA is now the like-for-like service replacing standard ADSL and FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet). This means that all ADSL and FTTC circuits will need to be upgraded to either SoGEA or FTTP by this date.
SoGEA is essentially the same as FTTC except that it runs over a data only line rather than a PSTN line. This means that you’re unable to make calls on this line so if your land line number is still required, this can be transferred to a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service. A VoIP service will allow you to make calls over your SoGEA service.

Why SoGEA?
High Speed Connectivity
With connection speeds of up to 80Mb/s, this service is one of the most widely available broadband options across the UK.
Cost Effective
Because the cost of the service includes the data line rental, there’s no need to pay any additional line rental, everything is covered in one price.
Limited Disruption
Utilises the current infrastructure to your premises by using existing cables and ducts and internal socket.
Static IP Address
Providing a permanent, fixed address on the internet, which brings advantages when sending emails and remotely accessing your network.
Future Proof
Built for modern demands like streaming, cloud services, remote work, and provides the capacity to handle whatever you need in the years ahead.
Reliability
As most of the service is delivered over fibre optic cable, it’s far more reliable than traditional ADSL, providing faster speeds and greater stability.
Related Services
Fibre To The Premises
FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) delivers a full fibre-optic connection directly to your home or business, providing ultra-fast, reliable, and future-proof internet. Unlike traditional broadband, it isn’t slowed by copper lines, ensuring consistent speeds, low latency, and minimal interruptions.
Fibre Leased Line
A Fibre Leased Line is a dedicated, private internet connection that runs directly between your premises and the provider. Unlike standard broadband, the line is not shared with other users, which means you get consistent, symmetrical speeds for both uploads and downloads.
